American and European Contemporary Realists Join in Historic Collaborative International Art Exhibit

The ARC Salon and Figurativas art competitions will exhibit together for the first time this November, bringing together one of the largest collaborative exhibits in contemporary realism to date.

The largest realist art competition in the United States, the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon, has announced its 2014/15 winners and finalists. This year there were over 2,500 entries and 789 finalists. The Art Renewal Center (ARC) is one of the nation’s strongest advocates for the traditional arts, and its annual ARC Salon provides a platform for realism that echoes the Paris salons of the 19th century.

For the first time, many of the top finalists will also be exhibited abroad in a traveling exhibit. The exhibit will start at the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain from November 17, 2015 through December 28, 2015. The public award ceremony will take place on November 20th at 19:00 hours (7pm), and a private artists’ forum will take place the following day. This exhibit will also correspond with the MEAM’s 8th Figurativas Painting and Sculpture Competition, Figurativas 2015, a prestigious European representational art competition. The combining of these two shows is a historic event for the representational art movement and will constitute one of the largest collaborative shows on contemporary realism in the Western world.

After the ARC Salon works are displayed at MEAM, they will travel back to the United States, where they will be exhibited at the Salmagundi Club in New York City from January 18, 2016 through February 4, 2016. There will be several lectures and educational events while the show is in New York including a collaboration with the art education non-profit organization, The Da Vinci Initiative. The mission of the Da Vinci Initiative is to bring skill-based techniques like those embodied by the works in the ARC Salon into K-12 classrooms. They are planning on holding a special forum for high-school students and teachers on the atelier training method and its benefits for those interested in pursuing a professional career in the arts. The only female head of an animation studio operating in NYC, Ariane Smith was inspired by Wes Anderson’s “Grand Budapest Hotel” and David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” in writing this  ‘tween series titled “The Peculiar Adventures of Willow B. Star.”

Ariane Smith, a master storyteller,  has always been inspired by David Lynch and the Twin Peaks music.  She combines this with her admiration of the style shot, visualization and speed of Wes Anderson's “Grand Budapest Hotel.” Portrayal of  Bill Murray, Adrien Brody, Willem DaFoe, Jude Law, Harvey Keitel, Jeff Goldblum  and Ralph Fiennes certainly influenced  the impact of the stylistic inspiration Ariane exudes in her heroine, Willow B. Star - a two dimensional character in a three dimensional presentation.  This 2.5D structure is accentuated in juxtaposition with  an eclectic  style of humor and some sarcasm with sharp conversation.

The romantic surrounding of action and suspense from Alfred Hitchcock's quirky shooting style is incorporated with the grandiosity of Agatha Christie's mysteries and pervades the adventures of Willow B. Star.

Mark Simon, the director of this TV series says, “I always love Ariane's writing.  But this animated series is different, with a distinctive point of view and a great sense of humor.  This show was hysterical and a lot of fun to work on.”

In the mid-1980s, custom cabinet and furniture maker Ron Tinsley received an unusual request from a friend, who happened to be a massage therapist: Could he help craft a better massage table, one that was strong and stable but also catered to the comfort of both therapists and clients?

It was a challenge the woodworker was glad to tackle. Tinsley looked at current models—typically heavy, cumbersome and unable to withstand the rigors often required during massage treatments. He reengineered a new type of wood table—more solid, stable and comfortable than any others on the market.

Custom Craftworks has long held a commitment to environmental consciousness. Based in the wooded town of Eugene, Oregon, the company recycles everything it can, from wood scraps to sawdust and foam pieces to office supplies. These materials—which the industry often tosses as waste—are transformed into useful products such as particleboard, carpet padding and fresh reams of paper.

As Custom Craftworks continues to grow and evolve, its philosophy and culture remain the same. Thirty-five employees, many of whom have been a part of the Custom Craftworks’ team for years, are employed at its plant, which is still based in Eugene. David Trubridge - He graduated from Newcastle University in England in 1972 with a degree in Naval Architecture (Boat Design). Working as a forester part-time in rural Northumberland for a short period, he taught himself to make furniture. His carefully crafted designs were shown all over the UK.

In 1981, Trubridge and his wife Linda set off to sail around the world with their two small sons. They sold all they had and bought ‘Hornpipe’, the yacht that was their home for the next ten years as they navigated their way throughout the Caribbean and the Pacific.

That is the question Jon Foyt’s historical novel asks—and answers—in “The Mind of an American Revolutionary,” the life and motivations of one of the lesser known—but equally significant—Founding Fathers.  Extensively researched, Jon’s 12th novel tells the story of Robert Morris, an illegitimate immigrant lad from off the docks of Liverpool, who went on to finance the American Revolution—at times with money out of his own pocket—and then ended up in debtor’s prison.

Taking place during the Revolutionary years, the novel explores Morris’ mind and his emotions, which are relentlessly probed by a persistent mercenary Hessian Major in what today we would call psychological counseling, or talk therapy.

As to the economic reasons for the American Revolution, the author seems eminently qualified to write about business motivations and ethics, given his years in the trenches as an American entrepreneur in real estate, radio broadcasting, banking, and publishing following his business school studies at Stanford. Adding his own personal drama with talk therapy creates the authenticity of this novel.

Foyt became interested in Robert Morris when he was sent by an Oregon bank to a conference at Rutgers where he learned that Morris was the patron saint of banking for having financed the Revolution and starting the first-ever bank in North America.

LithiumBoost Ultra battery system with 200ah lithium cells and 20a chargers, was installed by Advantage Golf Cars in an E-Z-GO RXV golf cart, replacing existing lead-acid batteries. After performing comprehensive tests and working closely with the Lithium Boost engineering team to enhance the battery system features, Advantage Golf Cars mechanics drove 114 miles per charge at an average speed of 17 miles per hour. This record was accomplished in one day, utilizing multiple drivers taking turns in driving each one hour shift.

“At Advantage Golf Cars in Florida, we aim at best serving our customers and providing them with advanced solutions to satisfy their needs” Said Jason Martin, General Manager North at Advantage Golf Cars. “We searched for a lithium-ion battery solution that could relieve our customers from the lead-acid maintenance and leakage hassle while allowing them to gain longer drive range and significantly reduce their cart weight. Recently the 2015 What A Fan Awards wrapped up its third year honoring dedicated devoted fans for their contribution to sports. The Award Show is the worlds only event of its kind, it was created in 2013 specifically to recognize passionate fanatics in all genres of both professional and collegiate sports. Held in Orlando Florida for the last three years the event has provided recognition for some of the most visable fans in sports. There are several categories fans can be nominated for which include the four major leagues, soccer, nascar, college football and basketball. Additionally there's an American Sports Icon Award which both Dick Vitale and Muhammad Ali have won, an online media and sports video parodies category just to name a few. The show has been moved to Los Angeles, California beginning July 2016 and will be held the same week of the ESPY's.

Lisa Wetzel became only the second Arena Football League Fan of the Year at this years What A Fan Awards. She's known as a Predhead and runs a fan club called Prednation. Lisa's passion for her beloved Orlando Predators runs deep, her devotion is a year round event. She's a loyal seeason ticket holder that doesn't miss a game even with a two hour drive to and from Orlando. She's extremely active in the community, often coordinating charitable fundraisers all year long. We could not be happier for this lady, she's an amazing sports fan but an even better humanitarian. We caught up with Lisa after her big moment to get her feelings about the win.

How did you feel when you found out you had won the What A Fan Awards for your years of devotion to a sport and team you love?

Lisa:
This was such an amazing honor. I work very hard for my club, our charities, and to help our team grow and be recognized. I hope that by receiving this award I can bring more awareness to other AFL super fans to get involved. I hope this can help me grow our fan base and get more people involved with the organization and our charities. I’m overwhelmed with happiness and excited to be a role model to spread the word that as a fan you can be rewarded for something you are so passionate about even if others just don’t understand.

You're now part of the historic foundation of the world’s only recognition award show for sports fans. What does that mean to you?

Lisa:
It means so much to be recognized for all the hard work my club and I do. Whether I was nominated or won, I will continue to be a fan and a supporter for the AFL. It is a passion of mine that I enjoy tremendously. I also hope this can help me on my mission to bring more fans together. I did not do this alone, I have the love and support from my PredNation family. I also have some really great friends I have met from other teams along the way in my AFL journey.

More than 400 guests gathered on the bluff overlooking Crystal Cove as a magnificent sunset gave way to a brilliant full moon at the Crystal Cove Alliance (CCA) (http://www.crystalcovealliance.org/)
13th annual “Moonlight Gala (http://www.crystalcovealliance.org/gala)” presented by The Resort at Pelican Hill (https://www.pelicanhill.com/) on Saturday, Sept. 26. The sold-out event raised more than $300,000 in support of the nonprofit’s commitment to protect and preserve the cultural, natural and historic resources of Crystal Cove State Park (http://www.crystalcovestatepark.org/).

The night unfolded with an al fresco cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres provided by Fig and Olive (http://www.figandolive.com/) and a silent auction filled with highly desirable items. Guests then enjoyed a delectable three-course meal prepared by The Resort at Pelican Hill followed by a live auction and a multi-media program highlighting CCA’s successes throughout the year and a sneak peek into future initiatives. Recently the 2015 What A Fan Awards wrapped up its third year honoring dedicated devoted fans for their contribution to sports. The Award Show is the worlds only event of its kind, it was created in 2013 specifically to recognize passionate fanatics in all genres of both professional and collegiate sports. Held in Orlando Florida for the last three years the event has provided recognition for some of the most visable fans in sports. There are several categories fans can be nominated for which include the four major leagues, soccer, nascar, college football and basketball. Additionally there's an American Sports Icon Award which both Dick Vitale and Muhammad Ali have won, an online media and sports video parodies category just to name a few. The show has been moved to Los Angeles, California beginning July 2016 and will be held the same week of the ESPY's.

Demario A. Scott is a diehard freak of a sports fan, he passionately follows and supports the Atlanta Falcons, Hawks and Braves with a dedication few would understand. He also loves his Georgia Bulldogs, his devotion for these teams can only be described as fanatical. You will rarely see him not wearing his team's colors, jersey or hat. He's so serious about his sports he's turn many of his friends into passionate sports fans as well. We were very happy for him when he recently won the 2015 What A Fan Awards Ultimate Sports Fan of the Year. He joins a awesome group of historic sports fans that are part of an exclusive family, the worlds most amazing fans! We caught up to Demario after the win to get his feelings about the experience.

How did you feel when you found out you had won the What A Fan Awards for your years of devotion to a sport and team you love?

Demario:
Once I was told I was the 2015 What A Fan Ultimate Sports Fan Of The Year winner It was a complete surprise. It didn't seem real. It took me a minute to gather my thoughts. Winning this award is by far the greatest highlight of my sports life. Being recognized for something I love and enjoy doing has to be the greatest feeling in the world. Being nominate was a surprise, but to actually win the award is amazing. I'm so very grateful. I would like to thank my friends for having faith in me from day one. My friends told me I would win this award from the very first day I was nominated. Without their support along the way it wouldn’t have been possible. I would like to thank the Fan Man for nominating me. I would like to thank the panel for selecting me. I'm now a part of history. I’m now a part of a prestigious group of fans and I promise to fulfill my duties as the #2015 #WhatAfan #UltimateSportsFanOfTheYear.

October is National Dyslexia Awareness Month and a local dyslexia tutoring center in Mission Viejo is offering free assessments, resources and special events throughout the month of October.
 
PRIDE Learning Center, the only tutoring center in Mission Viejo specifically designed for students with dyslexia and other learning differences, provides one-on-one reading, writing and comprehension help using a specialized Orton-Gillingham, multisensory reading program.


“Dyslexia is not reading words backwards or writing letters backwards.  This is a common misconception,”
states Karina Richland, the owner of PRIDE Learning Center in Mission Viejo.  “There are many misconceptions about the true meaning of dyslexia” says Richland, “many people don’t understand that people with dyslexia are often very smart and can achieve great successes.  This month, we hope to bring awareness to dyslexia and educate the Mission Viejo community.”

According to the International Dyslexia Association, 1 in 10 people experience symptoms of dyslexia.  Warning signs of dyslexia may include difficulty learning letters and sounds, difficulty reading fluently, difficulty spelling accurately, and difficulty memorizing number facts and completing math operations.

“The sooner a child with dyslexia is given proper instruction, particularly in the very early grades, the more likely it is that they will have fewer or milder difficulties later in life” states Richland.

– Hoffman Landscapes, Inc. has been recently recognized for exceptional work in both design/build and maintenance divisions by the National Association of Landscape Professionals in their 45th Annual Landscape Awards Competition. Hoffman has been awarded three Landscape Awards of Excellence, which acknowledge outstanding landscape design and installation, as well as lawn care and property maintenance. Awards were selected from hundreds of entries from lawn and landscape companies from across the nation this year.

Poinciana to benefit from new rail and roads routes

Not only is Poinciana getting a major new road in the form of the Poinciana Parkway, but the new SunRail extension to the area is going ahead.

SunRail currently includes a dozen stations covering the 31 miles from De Bary in Volusia County through to Orlando, but now $93million is being provided for a southern extension to Poinciana, where the terminus will be.

This will almost halve the journey time to Downtown Orlando from 35 minutes at present to just 20 minutes.

Government leaders at the Kissimmee Amtrak station this week signed a 10-foot-tall placard marking the federal grant, watched by more than 100 SunRail supporters. Therese McMillan, Acting Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration, told the Orlando Sentinel (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/
news/sunrail/os-sunrail-kissimmee-money-celebration-20150928-story.html), "Ridership will grow, spurring more demand.”

Owners of Feltrim Group’s Tuscany Preserve at Lake Marion top-class real estate development, in Poinciana, will benefit from the improved transport network, says Chief Executive Officer, Garrett Kenny.

“The new rail and road networks will mean Poinciana home owners will have a choice of options when travelling into Downtown Orlando and many other Central Florida locations that will make it quicker and easier to get around.

“The advantage of SunRail is that property owners can just sit back, relax and let the train take the strain.”

Construction on the four new stations plus new track for the 17-mile extension, is due to begin in November. The route should be in use by December 2017, with 2,000 riders a day starting their journey on the southern leg, SunRail believes.

The grant awarded by the Federal Transit Administration amounts to half the overall cost of $186million. The rest comes from the state and Osceola and Orange counties.

Meanwhile, work on the Poinciana Parkway in Central Florida is ahead of schedule and is set to be finished by December 2016, almost six months ahead of schedule say highway chiefs in their September 2015 progress report.

The $150million, 9.6-mile toll road that will link Poinciana between Haines City and Kissimmee, to the main I-4 corridor, is well ahead of its projected May 2017 finish, says the Osceola County Expressway Authority.

Tuscany Preserve at Lake Marion features three and four-bedroom townhouses from 1,450 square feet to 1,950 square feet and two-bedroom villas from 900 square feet.  The development is ideal for vacation home owners and buy-to-let investors.

Tuscany Preserve at Lake Marion, which is in a conservation area and natural forest setting, is within minutes of major highways I-4 and US-192.

Licensing from all TVS audio and video properties will now be handled by TVS Celebrity Licensing in a streamlining effort for both the company and clients. TVS Video Techniques will now concentrate on it's long time core business of Pay Per View TV.
 
TVS Global Media has reshaped it's audio and video licensing business with the cretion of TVS Celebrity Licensing, a Division of TVS Global Media. TVS Celebrity Licensing will now be the sole licensing arm of all of the TVS Global Media companies.

"We found it unqeildy for each of the TVS companies to handle their own licensing," explained TVS Global Media CEO Tom Ficara. "It is much simpler for both us and our licensing clients to operate out of one entity, and that entity is now TVS Celebrity Licensing."

TVS owns a 10,000 classic TV library, a 10,000 classic TV sports library, and 56 record labels, each with a catalog of masters that cover a century of audio recording.

TVS currently licenses to such companies as Universal Music,  ESPN, HBO, and CBS, as well as independent producers.

TVS is currently developing an 80 acre state of the art audio and video production center located in Cantil, CA. Cantil is between Las Vegas and Los Angeles and is home to the Honda Test Track and the Space X venture.

Part of the facilitiy being developed is a state of the art digitizing complex, which is converting all TVS shows from their archive format to digital versions.
