The UNCF Empower Me Tour (EMT), a free, traveling college-and-
career-readiness roadshow presented by Target, kicks off its spring 2017 tour in Atlanta on Feb. 3 from 10:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The tour was created eight years ago by founding sponsor Wells Fargo to inspire students to take control of their futures by pursuing a four-year college degree and graduating with an education that prepares them for personal responsibility and careers in the 21st century.

AFEA Expands by Adding Chapter in Tucson, AZ Leader in Financial Education Continues to Expand Their Reach

The American Financial Education Alliance is dedicated to providing financial education and increasing financial literacy within communities all over the country. Today, the Board of Directors has chosen to continue to do just that, by unanimously voting William (Bill) Kleese as the new Chapter President of AFEA's Tucson, AZ Chapter.

Dr. Kleese's principal business activity is branch office supervisor, where he functions as a financial advisor and registered representative supervisor.He also operates a genealogical supply and research service located in Tucson, AZ, specializing in American, Mexican, German and British Isles research.  He is a member of the National Genealogical Society, the Arizona State Genealogical Society, Los Descendientes del Presidio de Tucson, the National Association of Securities Dealers, and several academic societies related to herpetology and paleoherpetology.  He is Past President and Past Educational Chairman of the Arizona State Genealogical Society, he was also Past Chairman of the Legislative Committee for the Arizona Genealogical Advisory board.

His early background is in business insurance and estate planning.  He is a graduate of early Prudential Insurance Co. schools of business insurance via which he received a C.L.U. certification.  At age 30, he entered the field of research science; he received a B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology, and both an M.S. and a Ph.D. degree in Animal Physiology from the University of Arizona.  He became a genealogist and family historian as a hobbyist in 1963, and then in 1988 established a professional research firm after taking early (medical) retirement from the University of Arizona.  In 1999 he opened a financial services office which is his major activity of the present day.  He has taught beginning genealogy, intermediate genealogy research, and advanced courses for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and for community service organizations in Florida, Pennsylvania and Arizona for 48 years; he presently serves as Instructor for the University of Arizona, Pima Community College of Tucson, Tucson Prescott College, and the Green Valley Recreation Center.

He has authored or co-authored 78 journal and book publications in the fields of wildlife, herpetology, animal physiology and family history.  Because of his varied scientific and business backgrounds, he has learned to read and translate English, French, German, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, Romanian, and Spanish in research and publication.  He has published four "how-to-do-it"

Nexus Gold Announces Drilling on High Grade Quartz Vein Diamond Drilling Commences on High Grade Quartz Vein, Niangouela Gold Concession, Burkina Faso, West Africa

Nexus Gold Corp. (NXS-TSX.V ) reported it has commenced phase one drilling at its Niangouela gold project located in Burkina Faso, Africa.

The Company has initiated a 1000 meter diamond drill program on its 179 square kilometer Niangouela exploration permit. Crews from Falcon Drilling Burkina SARL have been mobilized to the site and are currently drilling. The 1000 meter phase one drill program is designed to test the primary quartz vein and associated shear at depth and along strike. The program will target areas of gold anomalies identified from rock samples and Rotary Air Blast (RAB) drilling that was conducted by the Company in December 2016 and January 2017.

About the Niangouela Gold Concession

The 178 sq km Niangouela gold concession is located on the Boromogreenstone belt (as is the Company's Bouboulougold concession), and is proximal to the Kalsaka deposit and the Sabce shear zone. It is accessible by road and has one major orpaillage (artisanal workings).

In December 2016 the Company conducted an 802m rotary air blast (RAB) drill program that delineated an approximately 1,000-meter (1km) quartz vein and a 500-meter secondary strike, running oblique to the main vein. This vein has now been identified in trenches, artisanal workings and through RAB drilling. It remains open in all directions.

A total of 11 rock chip and grab samples were taken during the initial exploration phase. Eight of the 11 samples returned values of 1 gram-per-tonne ("g/t") gold or better. Best results of the 11 include sample NG005, taken directly from the primary quartz vein at 46m depth (accessed via an artisanal mining shaft), which returned a value of 2,950 g/t gold. Sample NG006 was collected from the artisanal dumps of the sheared intrusive and returned a value of 23.9 g/t gold. Sample NG007 contained coarse visible gold, and was taken from material extracted from the eastern shaft from a depth of approximately 60m, returned a value of 403 g/t gold. Sample NG008 was taken from the western shaft, 10 to 12 meters west of the eastern shaft, and consisted of a single large piece of primary quartz vein containing host rock inclusions and a cluster of visible gold. NG008 returned a value of 49.8 g/t gold.

Historical exploration at Niangouela consists of 556 pits and 11 trenches, with numerous rock and soil samples. Previous exploration work has returned gold in soil samples of up to 34 g/t Au. Rock samples have returned values of up to 18 g/t Au and trenching has returned values of 4.85 g/t Au over 10 meters. Historical assays of 5.93, 4.83 and 4.12 g/t Au over sample lengths of two meters have been returned from trenching over the vein. A qualified person has not taken steps to verify this historical data.

Zayed University launched the third annual UAE Quantitative Research Symposium (QRS) that brought together UAE-based researchers with their international counterparts in Dubai campus on January 28 and 29.

Organized by the College of Business at Zayed University and the Association of Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business, the two-day conference saw a welcoming video by Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance and President of Zayed University.

Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna pointed out that innovation is the cornerstone on which we  build our future and ensure a brighter future for generations to come, in line with the directives of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who declared 2015 as the 'Year of Innovation' to provide a nurturing environment for innovation  and according to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who said earlier: "The future will be for those who adopt innovation."


This came during the third annual QRS held under the patronage and in the presence of Sheikha Shamma Bint Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyanin efforts to promote world-class quantitative research and develop a research culture of excellence.

Furthermore, the two-day symposium displayed a video by Her Excellency Shamma Bint Suhail Bin Fares Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth, who praised Sheikha Shamma's efforts in constantly creating innovative channels and ground-breaking initiatives that influence lives of children in the UAE, Middle East and Africa and reflect a profound human compassion.

Sheikha Shamma Al Nahyan, a Zayed University graduate, inaugurated the sustainability session. She pointed out that sustainability is very crucial and can trigger a heated discussion. The UAE leadership plays a great role in driving sustainability and ensuring sustainable development through UAE Vision 2021 and 2030. "Its goal is to build a vibrant knowledge economy," she said.

During the session, panelists discussed sustainability in line with the UAE Vision 2030, increasing the SME sector by encouraging social entrepreneurship and encouraging youth to be sustainable in both their professional and personal lives.

I would recommend to engage more students in future symposiums to build a great audience and exchange knowledge and skills in all fields of business."

Also were present at the symposium, Francesco Caselli, Professor at London School of Economics, who gave a keynote speech on technology choice differences across countries and time.

NAPO Chicago Volunteers Help Local Domestic Violence Shelter Get Organized

January was Get Organized (GO) MonthSM, and the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) participated in the national public awareness initiative by helping a local domestic violence shelter start the new year off right by getting organized.

January is the ideal time for GO Month, since getting organized is a popular New Year's resolution.  During GO Month, NAPO professional organizers and productivity specialists across the country host events in their communities to empower individuals, families, businesses and organizations to regain control over their surroundings, time and possessions. By sharing proven organizing and productivity techniques and principles, NAPO members help people save time, save money and reduce stress.

On January 11, 2017, eleven members of the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO Chicago) volunteered to provide professional organizing services to a Chicago-area domestic violence shelter. Working in teams, the organizers assisted by organizing the shelter's donations, storage rooms, pantry, and learning resource areas. As a result, the items staff members and residents use are more visible and easier to access.

Dishwasher wins new car through IntegraCare's company-wide attendance contest

Ryan Hershey hasn't missed a day of work in his job as a dishwasher at Newhaven Court at Lindwood, a senior living community in Westmoreland County.

    Thanks to his perfect attendance, Hershey, 27, will be driving a new Ford Focus to work in the Food Services Department at Newhaven Court at Lindwood.

    Hershey was the lucky winner of IntegraCare's second Continued Attendance Rewards (CAR) Program. His name was selected from among 453 eligible employees who earned 23,410 raffle tickets based on their perfect attendance at nine IntegraCare senior living communities in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

    "I am humbled, glad, and just really surprised," Hershey said following Tuesday's announcement, which was made on IntegraCare's Facebook page.

    "We couldn't be more proud of Ryan," said Lori Grant, Executive Director of Newhaven Court at Lindwood. "Over the past eight years Ryan has been at Lindwood, he has never called off or has never been late for work.

    "He demonstrates an excellent work ethic and is a great role model for others when it comes to his attendance and dependability,"
Grant said. "Ryan is very deserving of such an amazing award.  He has been receiving high-fives and a pat-on-the-back from everyone in the community – even the residents and resident families who watched the live stream on Facebook."

    In addition to the new car, employees in the CAR Program at each community were eligible to win three grand prizes. All nine communities gave away:

·         First prize, a 55-inch television, one year subscription to Netflix, and one week of paid vacation.

·         Second prize, a laptop computer and printer, Microsoft Office, and one week of paid vacation.

·         Third prize, an i-Pad, Amazon Prime membership, and one week of paid vacation.

Richmond Startup Gaining Some Buzz Richmond startup, Dippy, has been getting some coverage in the local news.

Today, Richmond BizSense released an article featuring a startup that has been launched. Written by Mike Platania, the profile covers the companies origins and goals for the future.

For People Living with Dystonia, February Has Gone to the Dogs

Dogs for Dystonia is a nationwide campaign to educate the public about the difficulties faced by those living with dystonia, a little-known brain disorder, and to celebrate the important role that dogs play in helping people navigate life's challenges. Throughout February, dog lovers are uniting in a Virtual Dog Walk to raise dystonia awareness and urgently-needed research funds for a cure. Proceeds benefit the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF).

Participants in this year's campaign include Janice and Len Nachbar, who trained their five-pound Pomeranian mix to be a service dog for adult daughter Joanna Manusov. Manusov's dystonia is so severe it causes rigid, extreme muscle spasms in virtually every muscle on her petite frame. "A five-and-a-half-
pound service dog? Yes, that's our Nicki," says Len Nachbar. "Nicki is the gift that keeps on giving." Nicki learned to anticipate when Joanna's symptoms are escalating and will sit in her lap to calm her. The Nachbar/Manusov families are longtime DMRF supporters and lead dystonia support groups in Freehold, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

Virginia Bryan of New York adopted a lab mix she named Snoops. Bryan was misdiagnosed for over 20 years before being diagnosed with myoclonus-dystonia, a complex and debilitating movement disorder. "With Snoops, I am whole and calm," she explains. "My dystonia symptoms are not a worry. I know we can handle the day ahead. My social and emotional and physical well-being have improved since Snoops has been by my side." Bryan is a member of the DMRF's Community Leadership Council.

Dystonia is a chronic, often disabling, neurological disorder marked by extreme, involuntary muscle contractions that cause twisting, repetitive body movements and abnormal postures. Common signs include abnormal movements of the head and neck, excessive blinking, a breathy or choking voice, hand cramps, or a twisted foot. In addition to motor symptoms, individuals with dystonia frequently experience chronic pain, depression, and anxiety disorders. Conservative estimates suggest no fewer than 250,000 Americans are affected.
