LOS ANGELES - Oct. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Phillips' new Cindr rechargeable battery pack sets the bar for quick charging.  In less than 3 minutes, the roughly 7 ounce pocket-sized battery pack can store enough energy to recharge an iPhone5 from dead to full.  And it can do this 5,000 times for up to 10 years worth quick charging.

Similar to other phone charging battery packs, you recharge Cindr from a standard AC wall outlet using the included charger, then use the battery to charge your smart phone or other rechargeable mobile device while on the go through its USB interface.  But Cindr charges much faster than any other product on the market today, and can do it almost indefinitely.  Cindr's quick charge light weight small form factor offers users a substantial increase in mobility as it provides nearly instant freedom from wall power. If you forget to charge it, you are just a few minutes away from outlet free charging of your device.  Cindr was designed with a shape similar to that of a smart phone, so it fits nicely into pockets and can be conveniently carried along while charging your phone.

Cindr differs from fast charge battery packs that use large conventional lithium batteries in order to achieve fast charge capability.  The magic is in the battery chemistry that was developed for demanding fast charge and discharge applications.  The Cindr battery uses titanium oxide, a type of ceramic, engineered to handle fast charge and discharge currents that would damage and pose extreme danger to other lithium batteries.

Another feature of the Cindr battery chemistry is incredible cycle life.  Most smart phone lithium batteries can do only a few hundred full depth of discharge cycles before they start to suffer substantial capacity loss.  The is accelerated the faster you charge and discharge the battery, a process that can further cut the life in half or worse.  The titanium oxide Cindr battery can do over 5,000 fast charge cycles and still deliver 80% of its original capacity, enough to outlast dozens of conventional lithium chargers and probably all of the devices you will own for the next 10 years.

Cindr is also highly portable, measuring just 4.6" x 2.5" x 0.6", similar to a smart phone, and weighs in at just around 7 ounces.  The included specially developed charger packs a whopping 150W of power into the Cindr battery during the fast charging cycle, a charge rate that would fry conventional lithium batteries.  Cindr can dish it out as fast as it can charge too, and while most cell phones cannot accept anything more than a 1-2 hour charge rate, Cindr is equipped with Qualcomm's next generation Quick Charge fast charging technology.  Quick Charge is compatible with today's conventional USB charge rates, Quick Charge equipped devices, and ready to support future ultra high speed charge rates of the devices still to come.

Phillips will launch a Kickstarter campaign this month, partly to help fund the initiative, but mostly to gauge market interest in the product.  The Cindr Kickstarter campaign will have some Early Bird offers.
